EcoGro was contracted to assist an urban stream rehabilitation project in Lexington, Kentucky. We
installed an in-stream sediment check dam using compost-based Filtrexx Filtersoxx during channel excavation. EcoGro seeded a
designated riparian buffer area along the banks of the stream with native grasses and wildflowers. The exposed channel was then covered
with erosion control blanket. Areas above bankfull elevation were covered with a compost erosion control blanket as well as straw. Our
specialized staff will also provide ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the restoration to ensure successful habitat establishment.
Selective herbicide treatments, native plant species identification, noxious weed abatement and on-going habitat management is critical
for the long term success of native grasses and wildflowers.
