EcoGro was hired by LCM Company to provide support to keep them in compliance with the federal Clean Water Act and the Kentucky Pollution Discharge Elimination System (KPDES) . Our inspectors have been trained, tested and qualified by the Kentucky Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (KEPSC) Program, as well as the Tennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Program (TNEPSC). Understanding the local, state and federal regulations for construction sites provides site-specific compliance criteria.
We began the project by installing compost-based perimeter sediment controls, ditch checks and drop inlet protection devices. These BMPs were identified on the site EPSC plan and the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) was updated. From this point on, we began our inspections and inlcuded our reports into the site SWPPP once every 7 days and/or within 24 hours of a 1/2" rain event. This service not only kept the administrative duties within official requirements, but also kept the project manager and site superintendant up to date with what was going on with their stormwater controls.
BMPs were monitored for proper function, maintenance needs or replacement. Due to our oversight, damaged BMPs were able to be repaired or replaced quickly without taking time or energy away from construction of the building. A local regulatory compliance officer had showed up unexpectedly and was very happy to see the actions LCM had taken to keep their site legal.
