EcoGro, a division of Advanced Mulching Technologies, Inc., was contacted to perform erosion control and native plant establishment on a habitat restoration project paid for by the Tennessee Stream Mitigation Program. The project was conducted on the White Oak Wildlife Management Area, currently owned and operated by the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. This property was at one time a forested wetland that was cleared and drained for agricultural use. In order to provide better wildlife habitat and water quality adjacent to the Tennessee river, this project restored nearly 2 miles of Crooked Creek and 32 acres of wildlife habitat. As a sub-contractor, EcoGro was hired to install sediment control structures, erosion control blanket, blow straw mulch as well as apply native grass, wildflower and annual cover crop seed.
