Advanced Mulching Technologies, Inc was hired to hydroseed native and wildflower seeds on a 4+ acre stream restoration project in Northeast Kentucky. Brushy Creek was highly eroded and in need of large-scale mitigation. 4000 linear feet of the stream channel was redirected, the banks reshaped and a riparian buffer was established through funding provided by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. Advanced Mulching Technologies, Inc then hydroseeded the disturbed areas with a native grass and wildflower mixture specified by the engineer in the spring of 2005.
We have also provided a continuing stewardship program to ensure the ongoing success of the native plantings. Invasive exotic species have been identified, selectively treated with herbicide and nearly eliminated from the site. By eliminating competitive pressures from the overbearing weeds, an advantage was provided to the young native plants and increased the desired yield.
